Finding information in texts is something you have to do every day, for example when you read a book, use a timetable or research on the internet. You will almost certainly have been practising finding information in a variety of school subjects for as long as you can remember. In the SATs, questions which ask you to pick out facts or details can be a quick way of picking up several vital marks, so it's important that you do them well. Here's a reminder of how to go about finding information:
Firstly, read the text really carefully, at least once.
Next, read the question a couple of times to make sure you understand exactly what it's asking you. Lots of people lose marks by half-reading the question and doing what THEY think it says, not what's actually on the page!
Use you skimming and scanning skills to home in on the information, and write it down.
