Fractions and decimals
You can use your calculator to change fractions to decimals. Divide the top number (the numerator) by the bottom number (the denominator).
1 is the same as 1 ÷ 4.

Some fractions do not change exactly into decimals.
2 = 0.2857142...

To round to the nearest tenth (one decimal place), look at the second digit after the decimal point. If it is 5 or more, round up the first digit.
So, 2 is 0.3 to one decimal place.

To round to the nearest hundredth (two decimal places), look at the third digit after the decimal point. If it is 5 or more, round up the second digit.
So, 2 is 0.29 to two decimal places.
